I made some today for my daughter and I for breakfast. Nothing beats a nice warm, freshly made waffle in the morning.
I think one of the reasons I love this comfort food so much is that it takes me back to the Sunday mornings when I would wake up to the delicious smell of pancakes, and upon walking barefoot into the kitchen, would hear the wonderful sound of bacon frying. Bacon's good for you, right?
:)
Nothing like stuffing your face on the weekend. It took the thought of all my unfinished homework and the tests the next day out of my mind for a while.
Here is one of the best recipes I have ever tried:
Cinnamon-Raisin Waffles
* 1 Cup flour
* 2 TBS brown sugar, packed
* 2 TSP baking powder
* 1 1/2 TSP cinnamon
* 1 egg
* 1 cup milk
* 2 TBS oil
* 1/3 cup raisins (I prefer golden raisins)
Directions:
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and oil. Add the flour mixture to the milk mixture. Stir until batter is just combined. Stir in raisins.
Pour about 3/4 cup of batter onto waffle baker. Cook about five minutes or until golden brown.
(This recipe is for a Belgian waffle grid. If you have another type, you may need to use less batter per waffle.)
Anyone notice that (literally) 2/3 of my posts are about food.

yummy!! I love waffles too! Wish I had some right now!
Oh that really brings back memories of my youth. My aunts used to take me to "town" and we would always have a waffle with butterscotch sauce. YUM I think I still have my waffle maker up in the top cupboard. I think I'll give your repe a go.
Cheers
Helen
I don't think I have ever had waffles. I am probably missing out on something right. Welcome to FTF.
Love that last picture. Mmm...waffles... I broke down and bought myself a waffle iron last year, but haven't used it in quite a while. Gluten-free waffles aren't quite as awesome, but they're still pretty good. You've got me thinking waffles this weekend!
I'm not one for waffles but I believe next Tuesday is the international day your mum isn't allowed to say no to your request for pancakes, so I'm very much looking forward to that.
Waffles - yumm - sure takes me to another time and place. Memories are delicious.
Enjoy those waffles
I can't believe someone has never had waffles before!
Your recipe looks delicious - thanks for sharing!
It looks like your daughter thoroughly enjoyed her breakfast. My kids have a day home from school today, so I think we're having sour cream pancakes!
Waffles are awesome! I didn't have a waffle until I was in collage, my mom didn't make them and we didn't go out for breakfast.
Ok, you had me at the first sentence. I too love waffles, only rarely do we have homemade, so thanks for the recipe. I love Eggo Waffles and like you waffles remind me of weekends for sure. Your photos are very cute. Thanks for posting early because I usually post late!
What a fabulous first Favourite! My kids love waffles, though I admittedly do not make them that often. Thanks for sharing your recipe. That last picture is absolutely adorable. Welcome to FTF! Happy Saturday! :o)
Someone has never had waffles! Go to the local diner immediately and rectify this!
Hi Natalie and welcome to FTF!
Waffles are not very common in Australia. You can buy them ready made at some shops and I bought my sister a waffle maker once about 100 years ago ...but we're more Pancake people down under.
By the way bacon should be in a food group all it's own ...
I really will have to try giving waffles a go....
Thanks for linking up to FTf this week. Come back and visit again.
