Vehnän Mitts

Recently, I was trolling the web for funky ribbing stitches to finish off my Knucks. When I found the prefect ribbing, I kept noticing a beautiful stitch being displayed in the sidebar. The website had dubbed it the "Wind in the Wheat" stitch.
I loved it so much, I had to make some mitts out of it. And, since I have some unexplainable obsession with all things Finnish, I decided to name them Vehnän Mitts; Vehnän being Finnish for wheat. (Well, really, it means "common wheat"). Vehnän Lapaset is roughly translated to Wheat Mitts, but I thought that may be a bit unwieldy on the tongue.
You can knit these mitts in a weekend and they take less than a skein.

What you need
Yarn: Any DK weight. Shown in Gloss DK yarn by KnitPicks, in cream; number 24985
Needles: A Set of US number Five DPNS or circular long enough for Magic Loop method.
Notions Tapestry needle, stitch marker
Note: If you’re making these gloves with only two DPNs or using the Magic Loop method, the stitches will rearrange themselves on the needles. I recommend arranging the stitches back to an even amount on each needle every time you work round 12.

I've Been Published

My pattern for Eyelet Fingerless Mitts has been published! And not in one, but two other Blogs! (i didn't realize I had been published in Totally Tutorials until this morning, when I was looking at my stats.)
Nantucket Chronicle has asked me to do a column (for lack of a better word) with patterns, tips and tricks. I already have two more planned in my head. Check the article out
Totally Tutorials also published my pattern, yay!
I am so happy to be have my name out there in the Blogging world more. I am loving these opportunities.
(Oh and new learning opportunities - I discovered I've been spelling 'eyelet' wrong for ages now. I thought it was 'eyelit.') Happy Knitting All!

Lena Loo Legwarmers, and others

These are legwarmers I knit for my daughter. She's one fancy little girl - they're made from hand painted silk blend yarn. It's been lyring around for so long, I just had to use it. You can't tell from the pic, but they've got a lace and cable pattern on the front. They've got a ruffle on the end, and they're just epic. I only wish I made them a tad longer. They've been dubbed "Lena Loo Legwarmers", as her nickname is (one of the many, anyways) is Lena Loo.
Here's a pair of mitts I knit for my friend Danielle. I am so in love with them, I didn't want to give them to her. But as she paid me for them, I really had no choice.
In red as well. Oh, by the way, they're made with cashmere blend yarn. Yum!
All pretty and wrapped up.
The palm cable on the mitts. Shameless advertising - it can all be purchased at Natalie's Knits. Oh, I dyed my own yarn today. With Food Coloring. Mine didn't come out that bright, but I'm okay with that. It's a nice shell pink / Whitish variagated (sorry if the spelling is rubbish) wool, and I'm calling it Nantucket Red to fancy it up. In case you don't know what Nantucket Red is.
